This is what Ravelry says about themselves:

Ravelry is a community site, an organizational tool,
a yarn & pattern database for knitters & crocheters.
I've been knitting for over 40 years!

In 1970, the night manager at Manning's Cafe taught me to knit
during slow hours, close to closing time.  She'd knit behind-the-scenes,
around the corner from my cash register, and I showed great interest!

She pulled out a little ball of yarn, handed me two semi-sharp pencils as knitting needles, teaching me right there-and-then the 3 basics of all knitting:

1) Casting stitches onto the bare needle, 2) the knit stitch, and 3) the purl stitch.

1970: My First Project: a garter stitch scarf!
The scarf was way too wide, and way too long...but I loved it!

1971: I branched right out into Sweater Knitting!
My First Sweater: A red Aran Sweater! Oh, it was waaay to big, but I was proud!
Years later, I learned how to "knit a garment that really fits"!

When our grandchildren began to arrive, I thoroughly enjoyed knitting for them!

Here are a few baby items that I've knit over the past few years:

Everyone will come away feeling they've learned something valuable!
Everyone will feel their time & money was not wasted!
Everyone will leave with a hand-knit to brag about!
