MY NOTES:

Well, here is 25" of my Touch of Whimsy scarf!  I call it Touch of Whimsy II.
I made adjustment in the cast on, bottom border, and side edges.

I couldn't figure out the "I-Cord Cast On" directions, and I just got tiredof fighting with it.
(There is an I-Cord Tutorial on the designers website, but I didn't see it in time.  Doh.)
I also changed the side edges from the original design, because I couldn't figure out the
"Mrs. Modesitt's" 3 st border for both ends of the rows.
Sigh.  Ever have a day like that?

So I cast on normally, and worked  6 rows of seed stitch.

After that, RS facing...here are my next two rows, as a "set-up" for the actual pattern:
Slip 1 (edge stitch) / Seed 3 / Knit 2 /  P2, Knit 20, P2 /  Knit 2 / Seed 3 / K or P 1 at the end.
(Of course, on the WS you will reverse the K and P directions.  Just Knit the Knits, and Purl the Purls.)

After that, my first RS pattern row was like this:
Slip 1 (edge stitch) / Seed 3 / Knit 2 / Pattern normally for the center 24 st / Knit 2 / Seed 3 / K or P 1 at the end.
(Directions in Red are my adjustments to the edges at each end.)

I will knit another Touch of Whimsey scarf, using the original design.
I have since figured outhow to do the I-Cord Cast On.  WhoooHooo!
It is really lovely, especially when the yarn is a solid color!
BELOW:
A true rendering of the colorations in good lighting.  I really like the pattern changes using this yarn! The cables remind me of vines and leaves.  The seed stitch reminds me of earth and pepples.  A very BOTANICAL, EARTHY scarf!
Here is the edge that is created by using the "slip 1" at the beginning of each rowAt the end of the row, just Knit 1 on the RS, and Purl 1 on the WS.  Be sure to slip the stitches carefully, so as NOT TO TWIST them.
Slip them Purlwise, not Knitwise.
MY YARN
(very soft)
One Skein produced 25" in length.
